JHA Employment, Training Program Celebrates new Graduates

The Johnstown Housing Authority’s Employment and Training Program celebrated eight graduates of the program’s 2nd friend who got in a new phase of life Friday.

The event at Pennsylvania Highlands Community College in Richland Township marked a brand-new start for the graduates, [empty] who are set to look for more education or work in the Johnstown area, stated JHA Executive Director Mike Alberts.

For the previous 4 months, those registered in the program finished courses supplied by a partnership amongst Penn Highlands, Johnstown Area Regional Industries and PA CareerLink.

The program included courses supplied at Johnstown public real estate community rooms to eliminate participants’ transportation barriers.

The curriculum included conflict management, job search and interview abilities, Microsoft Word and Excel, and life abilities management, along with school trip for a robotics bootcamp and tours of technology-based production companies consisting of Kitron and naukriupdate.pk Compass Systems.

The ceremony Friday celebrated the eight graduates of the program while acknowledging dozens more who enrolled, but pulled out after discovering work or other additional education opportunities along the method.

JARI Director of Workforce Development Dave Grimaldi said members of the program’s second associate have advanced to additional education at Penn Highlands or other area schools for accreditation in fields consisting of HVAC, emergency medicine and cybersecurity. The program is provided at no charge to participants and finished its very first mate in June. After Friday’s graduation, 2 more mates are arranged, Grimaldi stated. PA CareerLink Cambria County website administrator Jeff Dick.“This was one of the best concepts we have actually had for discovering quality employees for employers in the area,“Balog said.“We came up with the idea of dealing with our public housing units due to the fact that many individuals had transport and kid care barriers that kept them from accessing resources outside of Johnstown’s public housing.“ U.S. Department of Housing and Pittsburgh Field Office Director Michael Horvath said the program has helped individuals“

lift themselves up and get them connected. „He praised the graduates and the partners who made the program possible. The program has made HUD recognition as a best practice, an acknowledgment provided to one authority each year for specifically bettering the lives of its locals, Alberts said. The graduates got certificates and a standing ovation from friends and family in participation, in addition to Cambria County Commissioner Thomas Chernisky, Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce President Amy Bradley and agents from U.S. Sen. John Fetterman’s office. Fetterman, D-Pa., and former U.S. Sen. Bob Casey contributed in promoting the program, JARI President Linda Thomson stated.
