Modern autoflowering strains are hybrids in which only a small portion of the genome comes from wild ancestors. Breeders cross an autoflowering parent with a high-quality photoperiod plant, then select offspring that keep the automatic trait. In most commercial varieties, ruderalis genetics account for a minor share of the total, often listed as ten to thirty percent on seed packaging. The remainder comes from indica and sativa lines that supply potency, aroma, and yield.
